Opportunity Knocking is a selection of two choice covers, plus seven original compositions by Steve Wilson, Songwriting Instructor at Cabrillo College in Aptos, Ca, and winner of the Santa Cruz Weekly Best Local Musician Award for 2013. The covers are the Dry Cleaner from Des Moines by Joni Mitchell and Charlie Mingus, featuring bass virtuoso Dan Robbins, and That's All, featuring tenor sax monster Donny McCaslin. One of the originals, Maya, is co-written by guitar legend Mundell Lowe, who plays on the track. Daydreams is an instrumental composition for clarinet and piano, played beautifully by Dale Mills and Martan Mann. Wilson's vocal quartet, Mainswing, is featured on Candle Song, with a piano solo by the late Smith Dobson. The other tunes feature Wilson singing and playing trombone with a stellar rhythm section. Because of a very successful pre-production fund raising effort, Opportunity Knocking is available for the low price of just $9.99.
