By the early 1970s, the surreal adventurism of albums such as Lorca and Starsailor began to threaten Tim Buckley's commercial survival. Honeyman, the third of Buckley's posthumously released live albums, bridges the gap between the penultimate album and his frenetic live persona. Originally broadcast live on New York's WLR radio station in 1973.
